Splish Splash

Kyle LOVES, LOVES the water. He loves the bath, his kiddy pool and he loves the local splash pad. Our neighbors, that have a daughter 7 weeks older than Kyle and a 10 month old, found the splash pad a few neighborhoods over. I was shocked that we just walk up and play, no tags or fee! Its great. We went on monday, inbetween all the rain we have been getting, and he had a blast. He started wiggling as soon as he saw the water. There where about 5 ot 6 big kids out there and he just joined right in, the did not intimidate him at all! One boy was laying on top one of the sprinklers, Kyle knew there was water coming out of it and wanted it. So he walked up and sat on the boys back. I laughted at him so hard! He ran around in all of the toys and water like he had been there a hundred times, it was great to see him interact that way and having so much fun!

Kyles first hair cut

So, Scott and I finally broke down and took Kyle for his first hair cut this past Saturday. I had known it needed to be cut for a while, but tried to put it off as long as possible! You know, that whole letting go thing! We were preparing ourselves for a pretty traumatic event, so I brought along his favorite snacks(raisins) and talked about his hair the whole way there. We both figured like any typical kid he would flip out as soon as they stared and try to grab for the scissors, so we picked a place that was just for kids. They had lots of toys, cartoons playing and a special little car for Kyle to sit in.

Once Kyle got in the car, discovered the gear shifter and got wrapped up he was as calm as can be. We were very proud of him! The ladies were SO good with him and did a wonderful job on his hair! When all was finished, our baby boy emerged one step closer to a "big boy"! They gave him a certificate to celebrate his first hair cut, with a Polaroid picture and a locket of hair attached. I still can't believe how different he looks with his baby hair gone. His hair now is VERY thick and course like his daddy's!

Letting Go

As of this passed Wednesday I have never been away from Kyle over night. Crazy, huh? It's true, I just haven't been able to let go, I have only had a babysitter a hand full of times and that has been my sister. So to Kyle that was nothing new. But Spending the night has been out of the question.
Well, Scott won tickets to the Astro's game the other day at work. Woohoo, great was my first reaction, then of course I started thinking like a mom. Okay, does kyle go or not, who will watch him if not and how late can we really stay out. Then I have to think like a pregnant mom. Can I walk that far, will I be to tired? But that is besides the point. Well Lin said she will watch him since she will already have him, and says " since I will already have him asleep and he will be back over here in the morning anyway, just let him sleep over." I almost had heart failure at the thought of it. But in the end, with little persuasion, he stayed. He lived, I lived, Scott and I had fun at the game and I SLEPT ALL NIGHT!
So, I know there will be A LOT more instances where I will have to let go yet again, but at least I survived this time.

"Roughin' it!"

Oh-Yeah we had it hard all right! This is the first year we weenied out and used a camper, but it sure was worth it! We had a pop-up camper with AC, it may be old, but dang it was comfortable! So Bad! Scott, Kyle and I just went on the annual camping trip to celebrate our niece, Shelby's 10th birthday. It was us, my sister in-law Stefanie and brother in-law Stace, Nolan and Shelby. It is so cool she choses to camp for her birthday, it is always so much fun and the park my sister in-law found a few years ago is awesome!

Birch Creek is a Texas Parks and Wildlife park, right on lake Somerville. The camp sites are wooded, so basically private with a trail right to the water, there is wildlife everywhere ( perfect for Scott and Stace!), hiking trails and nice beach areas at the water.

Kyle had absolutly the time of his life. As much as he LOVES to be outside, he just thought he was in heaven being outside, ALL DAY for 2 1/2 days. He got to play in more dirt and more water than he knew what to do with. He swam in the lake, walked A LOT on the trails and the shore and played badminton with the big kids. I did realize that its the simple things that keep him happy, just give the kid a bucket and some water and he will be happy for hours!

Scott and I also had fun, I never thought it would be just as fun to chase a kid around a campsite all day, as not. It was great to see him have so much fun and experience something Scott and I like so much. And of course we got in a couple of naps! Can't wait for next year!

(yes- I can't believe it either! #1, I'm in a picture and #2 I'm in a picture, in a swimsuit posted on the internet for everyone to see, but hey- thats the cool thing about being pregnant all the inhabitions go out the window!)
