vintage.....

this is the first picture i have processed from the 'senior'(he has actually just finished his first year at college!) session i had a few weekend ago.
what do you think about the post processing? i love the vintage look right now and think it suits this picture well. i know a lot of people are really liking the ultra saturated/bright colors, so i kind of want anyones opinion before i present this to the client.

black on black in black&white.....

these two photos are a sample of the pictures i took of my brother/sister-in-laws family. i only got a few and they are okay. 'studio' work does not seem to be my forte, it is hard and i have a lot to learn if this is what people want. i prefer outside shoots!

is this the most beautiful family or what?

slow pace.....

last night i meet up with a running group at a park in town. this is the first time i have meet/ran with a group, it was fun, and much easier!

When i arrived at the park(with the kiddos), it was pouring down rain. i sat and waited on the one person i knew in the group and kept debating on whether or not to stay. i am so glad i did; for one, the gas to get down there(WOW) and second it stopped raining right before we got out of the car and it felt awesome outside!

it was so nice to run on a gravel surface and not concrete and with a partner. i ran and breathed much easier than when i run alone in the neighborhood.

we did 3 miles at a 13-14 mile an hour pace, i know it was slow, but it was my first time to just run, plus i was pushing almost 60 lbs of kids on a wet surface!(i love excuses like that!). i felt good during and after and can't wait to go back next week!

a sunset and a beautiful girl.....

I had the most awesome and productive weekend. well, i did not work out one single time, but i got some of the best pictures i have taken, and i got paid for some of them!!

S, me and the boys went to visit my brother & sister-in-law, niece and nephew in the country for the past weekend. we spent a lot of time with my sister-in-laws family at their farm; visiting, eating great food, petting cows, riding fourwheelers/tractors, and taking pictures. we LOVE hanging out there, they make us feel like family.

when we made plans to got visit, the trip was originally so scott could work on friday and saturday for his brother, but it turned out to be the perfect time to enlist my beautiful niece to be my guinea pig model! i had a lot of ideas in my mind to try out creatively with my camera and thought this to be a great opportunity. she did so great and i was so happy with the results.

well, that lead to me being asked to take family pictures for the whole family and 'senior' pictures for stef's brother. i was SO nervous i barely slept the night before, but it turned out great! i got wonderful Senior pictures and determined that i work better one on one. the group family shots, in my opinion came out OK, and the family loved them. of course i found about 100 different thing i could have changed after the fact. i guess on one hand that is good; i can recognize the need for improvement while still being okay with the end produce and i am still wanting to learn more!

other than it being such a great weekend for me, K had THE BEST time in the world; he got to pet cows, drive/ride the fourwheeler and play with his cousin, N! T also had a good time, he is getting a lot easier to take, because he isn't 100% dependent on me now.

the picture above is the first picture i got off my camera and processed. i love it and was so lucky to have captured the image i wanted! i will be working on the rest of the pictures and hope to have a few more posted this week. now i am off the exercise!

a baby step closer.....

Okay, so i just committed to run the running leg(3 miles) of a triathlon relay. it is an all ladies sprint tri in August, so i have plenty of time!. Shelly, my cousin is going to do the biking leg and we will have to find a swimmer, but i think that will be no prob!

this is NOT my ultimate goal, but a good learning experience and a baby step toward a full triathlon!!

the thing that i need from you guys is help with naming our team!!!!

i just don't have a good imagination, so hopefully you guys can come up with something witty, fun, and unique!

if you have a suggestion, leave a comment or if you can't leave a comment e-mail me!

looking, reading, just passin' thru....

thanks to those of you who answered my poll! i am not sure who visits, so i am just trying to get an idea of what people are looking at.
i got an unanimous look and read, with 6 votes, whoo-hoo!

Maybe i should have put, just passin' thru on the poll.....

eat my bubbles.....

this is the pump-it-up method used by my niece at her swim meet this Saturday. she loves swimming and being part of a swimming team, she just does not like the competition side, so they use these fun techniques every week to jokingly razz the other team to loosen up.
i got to spend this past Saturday with her to watch and get some shots of her while swimming. this is the first shot i pulled off the camera.

classic.....

i finally loaded my photoshop elements back on my computer the other night. after we got our computer fixed from the big crash two years ago, i never reloaded it because PSE5.0 is SO confusing and over my head.
i had settled for using the basic digital photo software that canon provided with my camera. i have learned a lot about editing using that and researching on the internet, so i made the decision to load my photoshop, dive in and really learn it.
i had such a negative view of editing my pictures when i first went digital, but now i realize it is the same concept as the film darkroom. yes- with photoshop, you can take it a little further, but film users doctored their images in the darkroom a lot also. so i got over that, because really digital images need at least sharpening if nothing else. photoshop can actually be fun once i learn all the ins and outs.
So this is the first picture i have processed with the PSE. i converted to black and white(i love very contrasty b&W's), then i added a subtle vignette around the edges. it was pretty easy once i figured it out!
This is a picture of my father in laws t-bucket, not sure what year.

date night.....

i totally forgot to brag on S!!!!
he totally surprised me on memorial weekend with a date! he got me to ask my mom to babysit, which we RARELY ever do and of course she was excited to do that for us!

i told him since i asked my mom, he had to PLAN something and take me there( not get me in the car and then asked me what i want to do)!!!

he was already a step ahead and had something planned. he NEVER does that, EVER!!!

i was surprisingly shocked when he told me to dress up because he was taking me to a 5 star Italian restaurant. whoohoo! it was great food, a fun atmosphere and we actually talked and not about the kids. it was an awesome night!

thanks babe, i love you! my turn now?

(the only proof i have is a picture of us from my cell phone and honestly don't know what to do to get it off my phone?!?!)

busy weekend.....

Saturday we decided at the last minute to take the boys down town the the childrens museum to play. it is just to darn hot to go to the park considering no park in our area has any shade over the toys what-so-ever!

this was the first time T has been, and the tot spot was perfect for him to crawl around! unfortunately k is at an in between stage there, the tot spot is almost to little for him, yet the rest of the museum is just a bit over his head. he still had a blast and T loved crawling around after the balls and trying to eat them!

and lucky us, they absolutely wore themselves out! we were able to keep them awake for the drive home, and then they BOTH slept for 2 hours. T has NEVER slept that long while i have been around, he does it all the time for my mom and sister! i finally had a great nap!!!!

it ended up being a late nap, so we loaded them back up, ate some mexican food and walked around a local car show. s & i love to walk around outside car shows and drool over what classic we want when we win that lottery we never play! i want an old bel-aire or some kind of old station wagon. S just wants another old truck.

on the way home we stopped and treated ourselves to marble slab. i really think that was on of the best nights we have had, just so relaxed and fun!

Sunday was spent at a distant relatives grad party, k jumped on a trampoline for like 2 hours straight, it was wonderful! he had the chance to ride on a horse, but chickened out. i would have made him, but s didn't want to.

these are just a few at the museum, i wish i had set a custom white balance, the colors are awful!

and of course i carted my heavy ass camera to the grad party and left the dang memory card at home. i am going to have to glue that sucker to me forehead or something!

this is k, very seriously coloring his face with wet crayons.
